Six strangers is
only good if it's safe.

Dinner with people you haven't met should feel exciting, not risky. Here is exactly what we check, what we promise, and what happens when someone crosses a line.

Every member is ID-verified

Before your first dinner, you verify a government-issued photo ID. We check that the name matches your application and that the person in the photo is the person turning up. No seat is ever anonymous.

Your ID is checked once and then stored encrypted. It is never shown to other members, never printed on anything, and never used for marketing. Ask us and we will delete the file after verification.

Public rooms, always four

Every night happens in a public venue we have booked and visited — a restaurant, a bar, a listening room, a gallery. Never a private residence, never an address we haven’t been to.

Tables are always four people. Never one-on-one. You will know the neighbourhood before you accept, and the exact address arrives with the invitation.

A code of conduct with teeth

Turn up as yourself. Let people finish. Don’t pursue anyone who isn’t reciprocating. Don’t photograph the table without asking. What’s said at dinner stays at dinner.

Harassment, aggression, intoxication that affects the table, or pressuring anyone for contact details means immediate suspension while we look into it — and removal without refund if it holds up. We don’t issue warnings for safety matters.

Women's safety, specifically

Tables are gender-balanced by design. You can request women-only nights at any time from your dashboard, and we will seat you accordingly rather than treating it as an exception.

Venues are chosen for being well-lit, well-staffed, and easy to leave. If you ever want to go, go — you owe the table no explanation, and it will never count against your membership.

If something goes wrong

Write to hello@goodstrangers.co and a person reads it the same day. Tell us as much or as little as you want to.

We will never seat you with the same person again, and we will not tell them you asked. If you want us to take it further, we will — and if you would rather we did nothing beyond re-seating you, that is your call to make, not ours.

In an emergency, contact the local police first. We will support whatever you decide afterwards.

What we ask of you

Cancel by the morning of if you can’t make it — an empty chair at a table of four is felt. Pay your own bill. Tell us afterwards who you would happily sit with again, and who you’d rather not.

That last answer is private, permanent, and the single most useful thing you give us. It is never shared, and it is the reason the matching gets better every month.
